Matthews and Dottin Power Renegades to Historic WBBL Victory

"Matthews and Dottin shine in record-breaking chase for Melbourne Renegades in WBBL with Lotus365 predictions."
"Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin star in Melbourne Renegades’ record WBBL chase, guided by Lotus365 predictions and insights."

Hayley Matthews’ exceptional all-round performance led the Melbourne Renegades to a record-breaking chase against the Adelaide Strikers in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), marking the highest successful chase in the tournament’s history. After taking 2 for 28 on a batting-friendly surface at Karen Rolton Oval, Matthews went on to hammer an unbeaten 85 off just 54 deliveries, featuring 12 boundaries and two sixes.

In a powerful display of teamwork, Courtney Webb initially supported Matthews, adding 90 runs in under 11 overs before retiring hurt. Alice Capsey departed quickly, but Deandra Dottin stepped in, joining her West Indies teammate to secure the Renegades’ triumph with an unbeaten 18-ball 46, striking at an astonishing rate of 255.56. This remarkable chase secured a nine-wicket win for the Renegades with 17 balls remaining, propelling them to second place in the standings.

The Adelaide Strikers, despite a strong start with a 56-run PowerPlay led by Smriti Mandhana’s 25-ball 40, were left to regret another defeat in what has been a challenging title defense, tallying five losses in six matches. Tahlia McGrath’s rapid 49 off 24 balls and a quick 12-ball 24 from Orla Prendergast pushed their score to 185/8, but Matthews’ and Dottin’s dominance with the bat ensured the Renegades' impressive victory.
