Australia started Day 2 of the second Test in Adelaide with strong batting performances from Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head, extending their lead over India. Labuschagne, who had been struggling for form, found his rhythm and scored a crucial half-century on a ground where he boasts an average of over 70. His 65-run partnership with Head helped Australia recover from a couple of early wickets taken by Jasprit Bumrah.

India faced further frustration when a close LBW call against Mitchell Marsh was turned down on review. The third umpire ruled that there wasn’t conclusive evidence to prove whether Ashwin’s ball had struck the bat or pad first, despite several replays suggesting it had hit the pad. India lost the review, further adding to their morning woes.
